Bergman FAQ
What kind of site is this?
This is the home on the web for Bergmans Bokstäver, a company run by freelance writers Lotten and Olle Bergman. It serves as
- an archive for our texts
- a community for the participants of our lectures and workshops.
Are you willing to sell your domain ”bergman.com”?
The basic answer is ”no”. We are very reluctant to bargain, as bergman.com is an important part of our company identity.
If the price is right, we might reconsider. Aim for six digits.
Are you related to the famous Bergmans Ingrid or Ingmar?
Unfortunately not. As a matter of fact, Bergman is a fairly frequent surname in Sweden.
Lotten has met Ingmar Bergman once, though - in an elevator at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm. He was grumpy, as always, and didn't even look at her.
Read more about Ingrid and Ingmar Bergman at the Internet Movie Database.
What does Bergman mean?
- berg = mountain
- man = man
A bergsman was a person who owned a mine. In some instances, this is the background of the family name, in others not. In our case, we do not know.
Where do your ancestors come from?
Our family history on the Bergman side is connected to the county (landskap) Värmland in western Sweden.
Haven't you misspelled your name?
No, this is the Swedish spelling. In Germany, however, it is spelled Bergmann.
Do you like to recieve greetings from Bergmans all over the world?
Of course! Mail us at webmaster@bergman.com
